The Bruins winning streak came to end today as they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins, 2-1. The Penguins have remained unbeaten since the Olympic break, while the Bruins have a 2-2 record. The goals of the game were scored by Blake Wheeler for the Bruins, and Pascal Dupuis and Evengi Malkin for the Penguins.
With 5:37 left in the game, Marc Savard took a hit from Matt Cooke, was left unconcious, and had to be taken off the ice on a strecher. There was no penalty on the hit for Cooke.
The season series between the two teams is now at 2-1 Pittsburgh, with one more game to play at the Garden on March 18. The next game for the Bruins will be Tuesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 PM.
Update on Marc Savard: Savard was hit in the head losing conciousness briefly on the ice. He suffered a concussion from the hit. He was not transported to a hospital, but will remain at the team hotel in Pittsburgh with a member of the Bruins' medical staff tonight as a precaution.
