Watching the Red Sox game on Wednesday my son remarked that there weren't many hits in the game. My immediate response was "No, this year it is all about pitching and defense. Run prevention, that's the mantra this year." The fact that this rolled off my tongue so easily told me three things simultaneously: 1) I spent way too much time reading about the Red Sox off-season moves 2) I have drank deeply from Theo Epstein's Kool Aid and 3) I have no choice but to believe that Theo made the right decisions this off-season.Spring is all about re-birth, renewal, etc, etc. That goes for baseball too. If there was ever a time to believe that the Red Sox have a chance to win it all this year it's now. We might as well believe that pitching and defense are going to do it because that's what we've got right now.
